Camelot Curates – Weapons Of Math Destruction

This book clearly articulates the dangers of blindly applying Big Data and AI techniques to solve our challenges. It unearths the inherent risks of applying the outputs of a computer model without really thinking things through and importantly having very effective feedback loops to ensure algorithms learn and continue learning. Highly applicable to the insurance industry as we lean more and more on models to underwrite, price, evaluate claims and renew policies. This eye-opening, example-filled book is a must for anyone wanting to automate what we humans currently do. “The computer says…..don’t read this book….”

Sesiro – a leading insurer in Botswana

It was a real privilege on Monday to host a delegation from a leading insurer in Botswana during their fact-finding visit to London.

We covered an overview of the UK Insurance market, key trends, and the rise of Insurtechs, as well as a tour around the City, taking in the Lloyd’s Lab and a tour of the Lloyd’s building.

Big thanks to Iryna Chekanava, Kieran Linger and Hélène Stanway – and of course the amazing delegation from Sesiro (Debswana) 🙂

David came highly recommended and proved within a very short time to possess a wealth of knowledge that is unmatched.

He shares it easily and has all the time to provide thought leadership for the ultimate success of clients and their companies.

My Board of Directors and Senior Leadership team remain in awe of Dave’s knowledge, customer centrism, his humility and overall commitment to ensuring future success and business resilience for clients.

Feedback from Ndiye Letsholathebe Senior Manager and Executive Head of Sesiro

Meet Zühlke in partnership with The Camelot Network, 18th October 2022

Really enjoyed moderating the expert panel this evening – kindly hosted by Zuhlke.

Big thanks to Hélène Stanway, President of The SENSE Consortium and Dan Klein, Head of Data and AI, Zuhlke.

We learnt how Zuhlke not only developed the NHS Covid app, but critically they created a “Digital Twin” of the UK – to simulate different lockdown scenarios, nudge people’s behaviour and influence Government policy. Big implications of insurance as we move towards not just lots more data, but critically we create feedback loops to influence behaviour and improve the profile of key risks…lots to digest.

The Risky Mix

We’re going to be partnering with The Risky Mix! 🙌

We are so excited to announce that alongside one of our corporate partners, Genasys, we’re teaming up with The Risky Mix to support their new series – The Parenthood Diaries. 🎙️

Here at The Camelot Network, we’ve long been supporters of The Risky Mix, as we want to see the insurance industry be an inclusive industry for all!

And we couldn’t think of a better opportunity than to get involved with their upcoming 10-part series, as they shine a ‘spotlight on the lives of working parents in insurance’.

It’s a subject that’s really close to our hearts, as being a role model for our children and the younger generation is so important, and one of the best ways for that to happen is to have the right support as a working parent.

WHITWORTH SCHOLARSHIPS

Many moons ago, I was privileged enough to receive a scholarship to attend university. This scheme is still running and giving a much needed helping hand to young engineers wanting to go to university. At the time I thought the money was the main benefit – but actually, becoming a part of a very impressive and far reaching network of “Whitworths” that has been transformational in my career.

Know anyone who would benefit ?

Calling all rising stars in the engineering world! The Whitworth Scholarships support those planning to embark on, or already on, an undergraduate degree level programme with up to £9,000 or postgraduate research with up to £15,000 per year.

As a previous award holder, I would encourage you to apply because it’s not just about the financial support but also the amazing network of talented Scholars sharing their experience from every sector imaginable (including engineering!)

Merlin Digital Consulting Ltd is Sponsoring Sian who is raising money for the Severn Hospice

With massive thanks to Molvia Maddox at Melting IceCubes, Mick Pavey at DIY Investors and David Clamp at Merlin Digital for their generous sponsorship of my London Marathon shirt. With a second cancellation and with the Severn Hospice having so much fundraising cancelled this year I have decided to run the event locally in Shropshire on the 4th October. It’s going to be extra tough without the crowds but for a great cause. If anyone feels they can sponsor me the link is: https://lnkd.in/eCK7i6b

Well done Sian – donation made and we will all be thinking of you on 4th Oct ! “We are right behind you” David Clamp
