The Camelot Network

🎄 It’s the most wonderful time of the year…and as the year draws to a close, we hosted our Christmas Camelot Connect Online last night! 🧑‍🎄

✅ We joined together for a wonderful party to celebrate a fantastic 12 months for the network. There was lots of fun with the Camelot Annual Awards, a Camelot Pub Quiz, meeting the Camelot Team, and the launch of our new website! We were also raising money for our Experts chosen charity The Insurance Charities.

🗣 A huge thank you to Mark Costello, our guest speaker who stepped in at the very last minute. He gave us an insight about his digital-upwards broker hubb and their mission to revolutionise broking. A massive thank you Mark!🙌

It was everything that The Camelot Network is all about – connecting with our peers, sharing our expertise, and giving our views on hot topics.

Camelot: Creating Connections, releasing potential

I get a real buzz out of helping people understand insurance – this “Insurance 101” course is designed for new joiners to our amazing, but jargon filled and seemingly complex world of Insurance…contact me for more info.

“We’re new to insurance and it’s so complicated…”

Ever found yourself wondering….

If a cat loss is to do with pet insurance ?
What on earth does MGA, GWP or IBNR mean?
Why do Insurers use a Re-Insurer?
You hear about COR improving, but have no idea of the relevance…has someone been doing a lot of sit ups?

The wonderful and rather complicated world of insurance is full of these expressions and acronyms.  At Camelot we have developed an “Insurance 101” half day training workshop designed for teams new to the insurance world – to help get them up to speed as quickly as possible and maximise their chance of success.

So, if you want to understand why you can no longer get coffee from Edward Lloyd, why mutuals have members, and why digital is the dream – we can explain everything 🙂

Contact me david.clamp@thecamelotnetwork.com for more information and let’s get your team insurance savvy.

Innovation Hour 18th November 2022

If you can create a culture where innovation is recognised, then you onto a winner, but unless you capitalise on that grassroots innovation, you won’t have the right results.”

🔵 Last week, The Camelot Network’s in-house #innovation expert Harvey Wade hosted an excellent Innovation Hour, featuring Chris Dexter!

Chris is VP of Customer Experience at Cisco– a company all about innovation – and he shared how they are using automation to solve complex problems and deliver a better and faster service to customers. From his world of #technology, we were able learn how to implement and encourage innovation across the #insuranceindustry.

Our experts discovered:

🤔It all starts with being curious about how to make it better and tapping into that intellectual curiosity.
🪂Leaders need to take risks to make their business better, there’s more risk in doing nothing.
🤖How automation can make your employees more productive – but most importantly – more engaged as it enables them to do more interesting and rewarding work.
🎉 How to encourage innovation from your most junior staff, at the ‘grassroots level’ by placing equal value on work and innovating the work.

This was a fantastic conversation – thank you, Harvey and Chris 🙏!

Sesiro – a leading insurer in Botswana

It was a real privilege on Monday to host a delegation from a leading insurer in Botswana during their fact-finding visit to London.

We covered an overview of the UK Insurance market, key trends, and the rise of Insurtechs, as well as a tour around the City, taking in the Lloyd’s Lab and a tour of the Lloyd’s building.

Big thanks to Iryna Chekanava, Kieran Linger and Hélène Stanway – and of course the amazing delegation from Sesiro (Debswana) 🙂

David came highly recommended and proved within a very short time to possess a wealth of knowledge that is unmatched.

He shares it easily and has all the time to provide thought leadership for the ultimate success of clients and their companies.

My Board of Directors and Senior Leadership team remain in awe of Dave’s knowledge, customer centrism, his humility and overall commitment to ensuring future success and business resilience for clients.

Feedback from Ndiye Letsholathebe Senior Manager and Executive Head of Sesiro

Meet Zühlke in partnership with The Camelot Network, 18th October 2022

Really enjoyed moderating the expert panel this evening – kindly hosted by Zuhlke.

Big thanks to Hélène Stanway, President of The SENSE Consortium and Dan Klein, Head of Data and AI, Zuhlke.

We learnt how Zuhlke not only developed the NHS Covid app, but critically they created a “Digital Twin” of the UK – to simulate different lockdown scenarios, nudge people’s behaviour and influence Government policy. Big implications of insurance as we move towards not just lots more data, but critically we create feedback loops to influence behaviour and improve the profile of key risks…lots to digest.

Intelligent Insurer’s Commercial Lines Innovation Europe Event (October 4-5)

I had a terrific day yesterday chairing the Commercial Lines Innovation Europe Conference in London – lots of excellent speakers, insightful panelists and insurtechs showing the art of the possible. Key themes:

– ESG is becoming more and more a necessity, rather than a “nice to consider”
– Disruption is coming from macro-economic trends, including the increasing pace of change and volatility
– Moving to more of an advice/risk management-based model
– The need for much more agility to respond quicker, with tech as a big enabler for this
– The opportunity to marry together internal and external data (even real-time risk data) to enrich the service offering and customer experience, as well as fuel more accurately underwriting

Big thanks to the speakers and panelists for answering my challenging questions and providing such great insights !
